Monteverde Red Honey Gesha - Filter
NOTES: PINEAPPLE, MILK CHOCOLATE, KIWI
ORIGIN: TOLIMA, COLOMBIA
PROCESS: RED HONEY
The Gutierrez family has been producing coffee for five generations at Finca Monteverde. They have an immense catalogue of different varieties, including Moka, Gesha, Maragogipe, Bourbon, and Wush Wush They also experiment with processing and have developed an excellent system for bringing out the best in each variety, whether it is a deeply fermented natural or a floral, bright washed.
This coffee has been processed as a red honey, which means that the coffee spends time in contact with the cherry before it is pulped. This processing method imparts a new layer of complexity with lots of big floral and tea notes.
In addition to producing incredible coffees, the Gutierrez family is doing some really great things in their community. They have begun to feature and promote their neighbouring farms, introducing them to new buyers and exporting coffees themselves. By exporting coffees themselves, they can eliminate the need to use a different exporter, which ultimately means better prices for the producers.
We are very excited to share this coffee (and future coffees from the Gutierrez family) with you!
